Assistant Director of the Spanish Language Program at Rutgers University. He has been recognized with both the Doctoral Scholar’s Fellowship and the Excellence Fellowship. As a committed advocate for diversity, he is a former member of the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Graduate Student Advisory Committee. Francisco has been awarded the Excellence in Graduate Service Award by the Graduate Student Association for his outstanding contributions to the academic community.With a proven record of teaching excellence, Francisco has designed and taught both graduate and undergraduate courses in language and content areas, consistently receiving the highest evaluations from students. He currently holds the position of Graduate Student Representative to the Spanish & Portuguese Department (2024-2025) and previously led as President of the Graduate Student Association of "Literary Studies in Spanish" (2023-2024). Additionally, Francisco directed and managed "Metáfora: Art, Performance, and Creative Workshops in Spanish," a project dedicated to fostering cultural and artistic expression. While pursuing his Master of Arts in Hispanic Studies at Auburn University, Francisco Cantero Soriano was awarded a graduate student assistantship, where he collaborated with Professor Olivar on a research project examining Catalan Literature and Film Studies (2019-2020). His academic achievements were recognized with the Outstanding International Student Award for Academic Excellence, reflecting his dedication to scholarly excellence. Additionally, Francisco received an Appreciation Award for his service to the Graduate Student Council, where he served as a Senator representing the World Languages Department (2020-2021). As President of Chapter Theta Delta of the National Collegiate Hispanic Honor Society Sigma Delta Pi (2020-2021), he fostered a vibrant community of scholars dedicated to promoting Hispanic studies and cultural engagement on campus. He also taught beginning and intermediate Spanish and served as a tutor in the Auburn Athletics Department, where he supported student-athletes in their academic pursuits.

From 2014 to 2019, Francisco Cantero Soriano pursued Bachelor’s degrees in Hispanic Linguistics and Literatures and English Linguistics and Literatures at the University of Cádiz. During this time, he served as a Research Assistant for Professor Coca Ramírez, contributing to the preparation of the undergraduate course “Introduction to Literary Theory.” Francisco was also Co-President of the University Poetry Club “Poemarte” from 2016 to 2019, where he organized various poetry conferences and conducted interviews with prominent poets such as Raquel Lanseros and Caty Palomares Expósito. His academic journey included studying abroad on three scholarships, attending Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens in Greece, and Siberian Federal University in Russia. In 2024, he completed his Master of Arts in Hispanic Studies with a thesis titled “Poética y exilio: aproximaciones teóricas,” further solidifying his commitment to the exploration of literary themes in the context of exile.
